Air Quality Roundtable

Roundtable Highlights Role of Law in Tackling Air Pollution

Climate Bar Association hosts discussion exploring legal avenues to improve air quality

Barristers, legal professionals and various environmental stakeholders convened on Wednesday 19 November at the Distillery Building in Dublin for the Air Quality Roundtable, organised by Comhshaol, the Climate Bar Association.

This event focused on tackling a pressing environmental health challenge: air pollution. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Ireland estimates that poor air quality contributes to approximately 1,600 premature deaths annually in Ireland, underscoring the urgency of action.

Barristers have recently undertaken extensive pro bono research work for Community Law and Mediation on air pollution law.

The roundtable session fostered important discussion and hopes to identify challenges and opportunities for the legal profession in improving air quality in Ireland. We extend a special thank you to all speakers and organisers.
